When an unexpected rising tide prevented his family’s boat from passing under a bridge on their return to the marina, Ira Krieger set out in search of a simple tidal watch to no avail. Kriëger pioneered the very first watch intelligent enough to accurately predict high and low tides. Driven by microscopic gears, Kriëger’s Tidal Chronometer featured a ruby red icon that duplicated the phase of the moon, enabling the calculation of spring and neap tides.
